The Alchemist
04:34
|
|||
Long hours of candlelight fighting back shadows
To find the missing piece
An anomaly defined by the shape of the space it should be
Obsession became his constant companion
Frustration just two steps behind
Uncertainty roamed in the place at the edge of his mind
CHORUS
Alchemy, it’s all in my head
Eternity, is here and now
If only my task could be something so simple
To turn lesser metals gold
Is the secret in faith or in fire when it comes to a soul.
If light is defined by its war with dark
How long have I been asleep?
For how can joy ever be savoured without knowing grief?

The Telling of the Bees
03:38
|
|||
I want to show to you the secret
Of the telling of the bees but
You can never tell a soul
Not a soul
All the comings and the goings
Of the bees forever knowing
What you are, what you are
What we are
And the cycles of the soul
Are demanding to be told
To the bees to the bees
Tell of birth and tell of death
On the whisper of a breath
When the moon is overhead
And the Queen will give her blessing
For a marriage and a wedding
If you lay it on the line
On the line

Winter Sun
05:18
|
|||
There are too few hours of light
Too many clouds above
And the mirror moon is all we have
Until we meet again
Not half as bright as you my friend
With light of powder blue
I’ll dream of dawn all winter long
Until the Sun comes round again
Until the Sun comes round again (Instrumental)
A diamond dust upon the ground
Keeps everyone inside
And tales are told of years gone by
Until we meet again
The winter solstice calls to us
With food and wine and song
So take my arm and dance with me
Until the Sun comes round again
Until the Sun comes round again
All hope of your return fades like
Ashes in the breeze
And all I can but do is wait
Until we meet again
I miss the way your glow used to
Kiss against my skin
Now whisky is the best we have
To warm our hearts and clear our heads
Until the Sun comes round again
Until the Sun comes round again

Lyonesse
04:44
|
|||
I write to you now from the edge of the world between sea and sky and land
My heart is heavy, my body spent, yet against all odds I stand
Tall as the trees that sway in the flow of water rising high
The City of Lions and Lyonesse have vanished without goodbye
I called to my horse as soon as I heard a cry from the old watchtower
The warning bells rang out in vain to flee within the hour
For out to sea a storm was raging soon to hit the shore
And all we loved and cherished dear would gild the ocean floor
We raced inland to higher ground and crossed the vast floodplains
Glancing back to watch as sea became sky became cloud became rain
And the shoreline was taken like a carpet from under the feet of those who stayed
And a wall of water rose higher and higher over those who knelt and prayed
We fought to outrun the immortal white horses crashing round our heels
As the lowlands were lost to the might of the sea forevermore concealed
But one by one the riders fell into the raging sea
So alone I rode on hard and fast to save our legacy
When all was lost and veiled in blue beneath the ocean waves
In solitude I wrote to you of a kingdom washed away
With mercy and with malice I would counsel you this day
That nature has the final word and we might learn one day

Her Majesty the Sea
04:19
|
|||
Oh breathe deeply now that salty air
Hail the ocean, hail the sea
As sweet and fine as lady's fair
Long live nature's majesty
The road to distant far off lands
Is quicker under your command
The winds are in our favour now
The waves are parting 'for the bow
The waters here are filled with fish
With more than we could ever wish
There's riches lurking in the deep
Where corals grow and giants sleep
Take care my friend for she's no fool
She'll break the back of those who rule
And those who come with pipes and drills
Have no regard for what they kill
The North has made a quick retreat
The South will soon admit defeat
If we continue to delay
She'll wash humanity all away
